Membership
Earn your place in the Vanguard.
Membership is a commitment, and that's the point. Here is exactly what we ask of members and how the process works.
Requirements
Who can join
21 or older
Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
Licensed & insured
A valid motorcycle license or endorsement in good standing in your home state, plus legally required insurance and registration.
A capable bike
Own or have reliable access to a street-legal motorcycle (500cc+ recommended) that can safely hold highway speeds and the pace of the ride.
Any style of bike
Cruisers, baggers, touring, adventure, sport and standard bikes are all welcome.
Show up
Attend the monthly dinner meeting and ride with us regularly through the season.
Good character
Reliability, respect for others, and a genuine desire to look out for your fellow riders.
The Process
From first ride to full patch
01
Reach out
Send the interest form or come meet us at a ride. Every applicant is sponsored by a member, and we will help connect you.
02
Apply & meet the officers
Submit the club application along with your license and insurance, then sit down with the officers so we can get to know you.
03
Prospect (6+ months)
Ride with us, attend meetings and learn our standards, mentored by your sponsor. Six months is the minimum.
04
Earn your patch
When you are ready, the membership votes. A three-fourths vote welcomes you to the Vanguard.
Iron Vanguard is a selective, voluntary membership organization. Applying, being sponsored or completing a prospect period does not guarantee membership. We never haze, and we never ask a prospect to do anything a member wouldn't do.
Dues
Invested in the club
Members pay annual dues, either all at once or in monthly installments. Dues fund our rides and events and charitable giving in our community. An officer will walk you through current dues when you reach out.
Pay your way
- • Annually, all at once
- • Or in monthly installments
- • Your membership year starts on your first payment
Members also commit to
- • Attending the monthly dinner meeting
- • Riding regularly through the April–October season
- • Following ride briefings and the Road Captain on the road
- • Keeping license, insurance, registration and gear current
- • Representing the club with respect, online and off
- • Putting the needs of fellow members first
